Selecting a contractor
...DO's ...
Do your homework.
** Competive Bids .**
Many reputable contractors will give you a FREE written bid for the installation of new equipment.
Get at least 3 bids.
Make sure everything is spelled out in writing (no hidden costs).
** Referrals **
Ask your friends and neighbors if they know a good contractor and have used them or seen their work.
Licensed
Make sure that your contractor holds a current and valid contractors license if licenses are required in your state or locallity.
Check out all bidding contractors ! ! !
Check their license with your States Contractors licensing board or registry.
Insured
Ask if your contractor has liability insurance.
Ask to see a copy of the certificate.
Check with the insurer to see if the policy is up to date.
References
Ask for a list of the contractor's previous customers and phone numbers.
Call the refrences and ask them:
Was the job done to their satisfaction?
Was the job completed in a timely manner?
Was the final price what was quoted?
Would they reffer this contractor to a friend or family member?
Call your local Better Business Bureau and ask about any complaints.
